Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The Davies High School pool couldn't have picked a better day for its grand opening ceremony.

Several city leaders gathered for the ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon. The pool has been open for seven weeks now and reached its capacity of 700 people several times over the summer.

The 21,000 square foot pool features three slides including Fargo's first ever drop slide. Hundreds of kids and parents gathered this afternoon for free admission, hot dogs, and soda.

Mayor Dennis Walaker - Fargo: "My wife brought our two grandchildren down here yesterday and it's the best facility that they've seen that's publicly owned that they've ever been to."

Citywide Fargo is on pace to shatter last year's attendance of 73,000 pool goers.
