Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - The Grand Forks Air Force Base is in the running to become one of 6 test sites to fly unmanned aircrafts in commercial airspace. Senator John Hoeven says the base is well positioned to be picked as one of the sites by the FAA.

Hoeven has written legislation to require the agency to set up these sites and consider factors including climate, geographical diversity, and location.

Senator John Hoeven – (R) North Dakota: “The process is moving forward that's good, again we want to make sure that Grand Forks is one of those sites and we're doing everything we can to make that happen.”

The sites should be picked by the end of the year.
