Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- After a long process that needed to go through the Federal Highway Administration, a construction date has been set for rebuilding two Interstate 94 ramps in Moorhead.

Construction on one westbound ramp and one eastbound ramp from Southeast Main Avenue to I-94 will begin in September. The two ramps closed in December 2010 when a new I-94 interchange opened at 34th Street South and Main Avenue.

City officials say it was a long process to get the reconstruction approved, but are happy the time has finally come.

Michael Redlinger, Moorhead City Manager, says, "For the most part this is good news because it's going to mean more access and the ability of traffic to get to where they want to go without having to go past that interchange."

Construction is expected to last six to eight weeks.
