Fargo Insurance agency faces cease and desist order

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A Fargo-area insurance agent faces a cease and desist order from North dakota's Insurance Commissioner. And is banned from doing business in the state.

Adam Hamm says Robert Schmitz and the Schmitz Insurance Agency failed to pay state and federal taxes and Schmitz mis-handled premium payments made by clients. He's also accused of issuing paychecks with insufficient funds to an employee.

Hamm encourages anyone who's done business with Schmitz or the Schmitz Insurance Agency to call their insurance companies to verify their policies.

Schmitz did business in Fargo, Finley and Gardner, N.D., and Stephen, Minn.
