West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It appears change is a good thing for the Red River Valley Fair. Attendance numbers are in, and from the looks of it, it was a major success.
This was the first year the fair went from a 9 day event to a 6 day event, and Fair Organizers say the decision to make it shorter was a good one.
Over the six days there were 105,000 people that joined in on the fair fun. That number is right up there with the normal 9 day event, and when it comes to budget, Fair General Manager Brian Schulz says all the numbers are being met. Schulz tributes the success of the fair to new entertainment, and exhibits.
Brian Schulz – General Manager: “We try not to go back to the same old same old, every year we bring in a big show up on the North end, this year we had the Big Bear show, we had the swamp masters, we had the Pride of Dakota show, we also had our first year we tried our wine garden, you know we moved our 4-H'ers into the big building, and they were, they filled it, so I mean you can see that things are continuing to grow out here at the Red River Valley Fair. “
As the vendors clean up their booths, and the busy bees and rockets hit the road, Schulz is already busy planning next year’s event.
The grand stand brought in 8,000-14,000 people each night. Next year’s fair will be July 9th through the 14th.
