Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It may be a little hot and uncomfortable out there today, but still dozens of golfers are raising awareness and thousands of dollars for Huntington's disease at the Fargo Country Club.

Twenty-four foursomes are playing in the fourth annual Friends of Huntington's Golf Classic. Huntington's is a degenerative brain disease that causes people to slowly lose control over all mental and physical abilities.

It's estimated that one in every 10,000 Americans has the disease. The tournament's host, Chris Poyzer, lost his wife to the disease in November of 2010.

Chris Poyzer – Started Tournament 4 Years Ago: “Never complained about the disease, was always courageous in her battle so it's easy to come out here and golf and represent what she would want to do which is keep on going. She would be pretty happy with everyone out here today.”

Today's event is expected to raise close to $20,000.
