Big Season for Vandelvelde

Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- If you ask Moorhead native Chris VandeVelde how important the up-coming season is? He'll give you the honest answer, it's the most important season season of his career.

VandeVelde was one of several NHL players to take part in the Cully's Kids celebrity golf event over the weekend.

The former UND standout is entering his 3rd year as a pro. Last season, he netted his first career NHL goal while playing five games with Edmonton.

He also helped lead the team's AHL affiliate on a deep playoff run, but knows this is a big year.

VandeVelde is a restricted free agent, but says he expects a contract offer from Edmonton within the next month or two.
