Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- It's a hard, heart-pounding, head-to-head competition you've likely never heard of called Flyball.

Dogs from across North America are facing off at the Wood Chipper Championship in Fargo.

Each dog is trained to take on competitors in a flyball competition. Dogs race from the starting line, jump over hurdles, and rush to a box that releases a tennis ball when the dog presses a spring loaded pad.

They catch it in their mouth, and race to the finish. Forty-nine teams took part. Organizers say they brought this event to Fargo to get more people interested in the sport.

Sharon Anderson - Tournament Director: "We'd like to see more teams be formulated. There are two teams that I think are relatively close, one is from Bemidji, and I think there is one from Brainerd, and so we hope that will help grow this area."
