Prisoner escapes transport van in South Dakota

(WDAY TV) -- South Dakota Law Enforcement is in a strikingly similar situation as we saw here last year. As a prisoner escapes a transport van during a short stop.
Authorities spent the day searching the Spencer area for 31 year old Oscar Herrera-Menjivan, a Florida prisoner being taken to a Nebraska facility.
Around 2 this morning, the private prison transport van, stopped for gas just off of interstate 90. Police say that's when Oscar got away, and made a run for it.
He has a charge of sexual assault of a minor. Spencer is about 50 miles West of Sioux Falls.
