Minot AFB locked down when driver doesn't stop

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Officials at Minot Air Force Base are continuing to investigating why a driver failed to stop at the south gate of the base, causing a two-hour lockdown of the installation.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Officials at Minot Air Force Base are continuing to investigating why a driver failed to stop at the south gate of the base, causing a two-hour lockdown of the installation.

Lt. Jose Davis tells The Minot Daily News that the incident happened just after 4 p.m. Thursday when traffic is heavy with people are leaving at the end of the day.

Davis said the driver was not speeding or doing anything suspicious but didn't stop for some reason.

Guards at the gate normally would activate a barrier to stop vehicles but decided not to use it because they didn't want bystanders to get injured.

Security forces found and questioned the driver, who is an active-duty member with access to the base.

The incident remains under investigation.
