Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Two politicians hoping to earn your vote are walking to raise awareness about veteran's issues.

Vietnam Veteran Rick Olek was joined by congressional candidate Pam Gulleson and more than a dozen others in a Fresh Air walk near the V-A Hospital. Gulleson says she fully supports the North Dakota Senate candidate.

Olek is a retired letter carrier and feels walking the streets is the best way to share his ideas. When it comes to major issues, he says getting veterans jobs is most important.

Rick Olek says, "We now have veterans preference in the public sector and we need to get it in the private sector by providing tax breaks for businesses that hire veterans in the state of North Dakota."

Olek was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds suffered during Vietnam.
