West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- One day after a Mystery phone call disrupted an "alligator Wrestling" act at the Red River Valley Fair, the full show went on today.
Minutes before the Swampmaster took the stage Tuesday, a person called impersonating a State Game and Fish official, saying it was against the law to wrestle gators. The Swampmaster scaled down the show.
Turns out the phone call was a hoax, and so today the Gator and his handler got "ready to rumble."
With close to 200 spectators baking in the hot fair sun,
"Jump on his back."
Jeff Quattrochi, prepared to earn his nickname. The swampmaster.
Side motion, that is his quickets move.
A country boy from Iowa, the Swampmaster actually rescues his gators from Florida.
"Try to let him dive."
Ones that have been captured, nuiscance gators that would otherwise be killed. They are feisty and give Quattrochi a challenge.
Jeff Quattrochi, SwampMaster: "I am trying to jump on the back of an 8 foot 200 pound alligator humanely without me getting killed."
The Swampmaster says he doesn't want his gators to become complacent or tame so they are changed out every 10 days.
I want people to see an agressive alligator, that same alligator that is humping and fighting will figure out I won't hurt him and will start running.
Today's gator was new to the show, it nearly took a chunk out of the Swampmaster as he released it. By this time next week, the gator will be on its return trip to Florida, where the swammaster has a retirement pond full of hundred gators.
You can see the Swamp-Master during his three shows daily at the fair. At two, four and seven. He was featured two years ago on morning national news shows, after his arm was mauled by a gator.
