West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- If you attend the Red River Valley Fair you'll have plenty of opportunity to take part in the political process.

One group asking for petition signatures at the fair is the Anti-tobacco group in North Dakota. They are trying to get a measure on the November ballot that would ban smoking in all indoor work places in the state.

That would include bars. Something the state legislature did not include with changes made seven years ago.

The group needs nearly 14,000 signatures to get it on the ballot.

Jack Fuller with Smoke Free ND says, "I mean it's a healthy issue, I think we've got enough things, I know I do myself, enough issues that we don't have to self inflict ourselves, and I say, I just got a smoker to sign, it's not about them, the children, this thing is going to be their benefit when it comes to, you're not going to have to say no don't get out there and smoke and mom and dad are going to do this and doing that to you, because less places there are to smoke, the more people I find quit."

The petitions have to be turned in by August 8th.
