Island Park Pool hosts Under the Lights swimming event

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The warm weather was a perfect reason to head down to the pool tonight.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The warm weather was a perfect reason to head down to the pool tonight. Island Park was packed as the F-M Gators held their Under the Lights Meet. Over 250 swimmers from North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota crammed the pool. This event and ones like it in the area even more popular this time of year with the Olympic Games right around the corner.

Scott Mengelkoch – Meet Director: “Generally after an Olympic season swimming picks up. Most clubs nationwide in the United States pick up numbers, usually about 10-15%, especially when US does well, numbers tend to incline.”

Connor Hoff – Fargo: “After the Olympics are done, there's a big boost in kids wanting to join swimming. Even now, the swimmers that are here, when we're watching the Olympics. You can learn a lot just from watching them - their walls, their starts. So, you always want to push yourself to be even better than you are now.”
