(WDAY TV) -- We're less than an hour away from the first pitch of baseball's 83rd all-star game.

For the 5th time Joe Mauer will represent his hometown Minnesota Twins.

Mauer returns to the all-star game after a one-year absence. He's hitting .326 with 5 home runs and 41 RBI this year.

The St. Paul native is one of two catchers on the American League bench, so it's unclear how much playing time he'll get. But either way, he's just happy to be amongst baseball's greatest players.

Mauer says, "To be back on the field playing, and playing well and being here at the middle of the year. It's always a nice honor. I always say, if they keep wanting me to come back, I'll keep coming back. So, it's great to be here. That was one of my biggest goals going into this season was to try and stay on the field and I feel that I've done a pretty good job of that."

The national league leads the all-time series, with four more wins the A-L.

The game begins at 7.
