Valley City, ND (WDAY TV) -- The moment a mother has been anxiously waiting for, for almost a week. The Valley City State University student who went missing on the 4th of July has been found.

Police say Amy Rines, the mother of 22 year old Amber Glatt says her daughter called her home sometime last night. Glatt was located in Coconino County, Arizona near the Grand Canyon.

Her mother told us she is trying to meet up with her daughter now. Rines says Glatt has had recurring amnesia since suffering a head injury two years ago.

Rines believes her daughters disappearance was related to her amnesia.

Police say the incident is still under investigation.

Fred Thompson, Valley City Police Chief, says, "well it doesn't appear that there was a disappearance as much as she decided she wanted to go someplace and left, there was no evidence of foul play, she wasn't taken against her will, so she just decided to go which you can do as an adult in this country."

Thompson says they're still trying to figure out why Glatt left Valley City.
