Minnesota (WDAY TV) -- The wife of former Minnesota Viking Joe Senser will spend more than 3 years behind bars for a hit and run crash that killed a Thai restaurant chef last August.
Amy Senser is sentenced to 41 months in prison. The jury convicted her in May of two felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide, plus a misdemeanor, in the death of 38-year-old Anousone Phanthavong.
Senser tearfully apologized before the sentencing. She told Phanthavong's family members she was "so very sorry" for the crash.
Souksavanh Phanthoavong, the victim's niece, says, " just to hear her, her apology from herself, and she is not listening to all the lawyers."
Eric Nelson, Senser's attorney, says, " Obviously disappointed in the sentence. She is a person remarkably deserving of a probationary sentence."
The judge says he sentenced her to prison because he didn't think Senser took responsibility for the crash.
