Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Over the next 3 days, nearly 200 of the best tennis players from the region will compete in the annual Red River Open being held at Island Park, Elephant Park, and Discovery school.

Age divisions range from 8 years old to 45 plus, while matches are friendly in nature with plenty of returning players, they do find a way to get competitive in the higher age groups, helping create a fun atmosphere.

Ryan Myhre – Tournament Director: “A lot of the juniors return each year, they have different age divisions so they work their way up through the 12s, 14s, 16s, and 18s. Then we have our men's open that is probably the most competitive, we have a number of different college age kids and other area and outside the area players that come back and via for the titles.”

Caitlin Bakke – Bismarck (St. Mary’s): “It's pretty competitive, I don't know, I think everyone here is pretty friendly though. It's just good practice to come here and see some of the girls that I have seen at State.”
