Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Earlier this week NDSU snabbed the top prep basketball player in the state, Shanley's AJ Jacobson, a player that sources told me NDSU had targeted at least two years ago. Jacobson may be the most visible recruit NDSU has had in the Division 1 Era.

This is the first area recruit for the Bison since 2009 when Rothsay's Jordan Aaberg signed, the first metro player since Park Christian's Austin Pennick, but the bright lights won't be new to Jacobson.

Joel Kittel – ECI Basketball: “He gets evaluated so much because he has been playing up with ECI since he was 14-15 years old, he was playing with 16 year olds. When he was 15 he was playing with 17 year olds, so he's one of those kids who really has been evaluated plenty. Everyone knows who he is, and then every year he grows another inch and a half and he does something different and he gets a little thicker. It's been fun to see his development, even my NDSU days when he was coming to camp as a little guy, it's been fun to see his development through the years. He's getting the attention he deserves, and he's getting it not just for basketball but his character and how great academically he is.”

Jacobson is the first Fargo player to play D-1 hoops since South's Jordan Allard signed at UND at 2008.
