Detroit Lakes' Smith tabbed to play in US Girls Junior Amateur Tournament

Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV) - Detroit Lakes freshman to be Kate Smith made headlines last month when she became the youngest state champion in Minnesota history. She hopes that isn't the only headline this summer as the 13 year-old will play in the US Girls Junior Amateur in 2 weeks.
Smith got in an as alternate. This is the same event Amy Anderson won back in 2009. The tourney begins July 16th in Lake Merced, California.
