Fargo man injured in Otter Tail County boating accident

Dent, MN (WDAY TV) - An 18 year-old Fargo man is recovering from surgery after being hit by a spinning propeller. It happened just before 4 on the north side of West McDonald Lake yesterday.
Authorities say Nicholas Schmit was swimming when a passing boat drove by 19 year-old Lucas Buerkley went over him, striking Schmit with the propeller. Schmit just graduated from Fargo North, he was a goalie on the hockey team.
He was taken by ambulance to Perham and then Lifeflighted to Sanford. The family is requesting no condition-information to be released.
