(WDAY TV) -- Today is not only a holiday, but it may go down as one of the biggest days in Minnesota hockey history.

The Wild signed the two biggest NHL free agents of the summer today, landing former Sioux forward Zach Parise and former Nashville Predators blue-liner Ryan Suter.

The two of them signed nearly identical 13 year, $98 million contracts

to play together in the state of hockey.

Parise, a Minnesota native, was the top free agent of the summer after leading New Jersey to the Stanley Cup finals. He's regarded by many NHL experts as a complete player and a proven leader. Last season he scored 31 goals and 38 assists. He's just 27 years old.

Meanwhile, Suter is a former Wisconsin Badger who entered the summer as the top defensive free agent. He scored a career-high 46 points last season with the Predators, while logging a lot of ice-time.
