Bemidji, MN (WDAY TV) -- People in the Bemidji area spent the day cleaning up after straight line winds knocked down thousands of trees. And many are still without electricity.

The storm moved through the Bemidji area about 6:30 last night.

Countless trees were uprooted and snapped off, many of them taking down power lines.

Ottertail Power has called in crews as far away from Jamestown to help restore electricity. Ottertail estimates 15-hundred of it's customers are still without power.

There have been no reports of serious injuries. It will take weeks to clean up this damage.

Jordan Premo who witnessed the storm says, "i was watching the storm happen out of the front door and you couldn't see that any of the trees were down until the wind and the sheets of rain had stopped."

Daniel Eckstros says, "You couldn't even see across the street. That was snapped off. These two were uprooted. That's it for my damage."

Ottertail expects 500 people will not have their power restored until tomorrow.
