Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A group is fighting for a firework-free Fourth of July. The Alliance to Stop Consumer Fireworks wants people to take in professional shows only. It's a national group made up of doctors and fire officials.

The group says with more than 8,000 injuries each 4th of July due to misuse of fireworks, something needs to change. Local firework store owners say it's all about proper use and the industry just gets a bad rap.

Johnny Starr – Starr Fireworks: "The problem is, it goes with everything else. The drinking on the holiday and everybody is having a good time on the holiday. I understand it all comes in to play but doesn't that come into play when they get on their jet skis, into their boats?"
