(WDAY TV) -- You'll likely be seeing more roadwork across North Dakota the next couple of years.
Over a billion dollars in infrastructure funds from the federal government will be heading to North Dakota, as part of the Transportation bill that passed Congress.
Senator Hoeven says the boom in the state's economy means that there are a lot of improvements that need to be made to roads to support it.
He says project will also move faster from design to construction.
Senator John Hoeven says, "any project under 5 million doesn't have to do an EIS. Anything in the operational right of way don't have to do an environmental impact statement and when you do have to do an impact statement now all the agencies have to have their work done after that with in 180 days with in six months and you get approval."
Congress also passed a 1 year extension of to keep student loan rates down.
