Fort Yates sentences man to nearly 8 years for assault

BISMARCK — A North Dakota man has been sentenced to nearly eight years in federal prison on assault charges.

BISMARCK — A North Dakota man has been sentenced to nearly eight years in federal prison on assault charges.

Jeremy Dwarf, of Fort Yates, pleaded guilty earlier to charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Authorities say the 30-year-old Dwarf hit another man numerous times in the head with a fence post, causing him to fall to the ground. Dwarf continued to kick the victim in the head and face while he was unconscious.

U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland sentenced Dwarf to seven years and eight months in prison.
