Founder of Leighton Broadcasting dies

(WDAY TV) -- The founder of Leighton Broadcasting, Al Leighton, has died. The 86-year-old past away yesterday.

(WDAY TV) -- The founder of Leighton Broadcasting, Al Leighton, has died. The 86-year-old past away yesterday.

Leighton started his broadcasting company in 1963 with the station KDLMAM in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

He owned stations in Iowa, Minnesota, Texas, and North Dakota, including five stations in Grand Forks.

Leighton worked as the CEO of Leighton Broadcasting until he was 81 years old.

He started broadcasting in 1951.
