Talk of a possible Outlet Mall in Grand Forks

Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- We are seeing preliminary plans for more expansion to the southwest part of Grand Forks. That could include places to to eat, stay and shop.

Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- We are seeing preliminary plans for more expansion to the southwest part of Grand Forks. That could include places to to eat, stay and shop.

The developer expects housing, hotels and restaurants to sprout up east of I-29 and North of 47th Avenue South.

He has drawn up plans for an outlet mall and golf course. The developer is in talks with a Minneapolis-based group.

But the city would need to an interstate exit at 47th, which would cost between 18 and 20-million dollars.

Guy Useldinger/Developer: "It would be one more good things to have more people stop here and enjoy our city"

Useldinger says the outlet mall is still 3 to 5 years away if the funding comes in for the exit. It would be the closest outlet mall for Canadians.
