Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- Some tense, scary hours in east Moorhead this morning. A backpack in a bus shelter, with a note saying, "a bomb was inside." The threat jump started several emergency crews, including The Regional Bomb Squad.

Highway 10 traffic was stalled for nearly two hours this morning as the region bomb squad investigated a specific package that said specifically, "This is a Bomb."

Sgt.Derick Swenson/Moorhead Police: "Based off what we do for our policies and common practice we're not having our officers deal with that package, that's why we had the regional bomb squad. At that time we made a perimeter for people's safety."

It all started shortly before seven this morning when a lawn crew noticed a suspicious package at this bus stop just outside of Target.

Traffic was rerouted and several employees evacuated from nearby businesses

The Bomb Squad deployed to robots to investigate the situation.

Swenson: "They can run those hands on the robot just like they run their own hands, so they are able to lift that package up, move it, open it and deploy the contents of that package out without having human contact."

What they found, wasn't a bomb...just food, canned food and some other personal items.

Moorhead police say Target has an excellent surveillance system and they will be working closely with the company to find and arrest this not-so-funny prankster.

Police say the person could be charged with multiple felonies and asked to pay restitution for all the costs involved.
