Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Soon you will be able to get a first hand look at what it's like to live as an otter.

The Red River Zoo will be building a new signature North American River Otter exhibit. Construction will start this summer, nearly one year ahead of schedule, because of a donation from a Fargo Businessman.

Nearly 200 thousand dollars is still needed to fund the 550 thousand dollar project.

Two displaced otters who were found along the Sheyenne River just north of Fargo will be the first to call the new exhibit home.

Lisa Tate, the Zoo's executive director, says, "this is an emersion exhibit, which means that the people will actually feel as though they live in an otters habitat when they come in to see the otters, they will be able to see them underwater as well as above ground, and so this is a first of its kind of exhibit for the Red River Zoo."

The project should be completed sometime next spring. If you would like to donate call the Red River Zoo for information.
