Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - As those temperatures rise your air conditioner might be getting tired, but there are ways to reduce energy costs. Technicians at Laney's in Fargo say the number one thing to do is to make sure your unit is running as efficiently as possible.

Some things you can do are make sure everything is cleared from vents, including tall grass, weeds and shrubbery. When the air is on, keep all windows and doors are sealed. If you're having problems, call a technician rather than trying to make your unit work harder.

Bob Landsverk – Laney’s Technician: “The coil being clean is a huge thing. If it's dirty, the unit runs hot, draws more amps and your electrical bill is higher.”

Laney's say it's actually easiest to treat air conditioner problems on warm, muggy days.
