It's a constantly changing project, but the Diversion Authority is now giving the public a look at the preliminary Design for the first segment of the Diversion project.
The Army Corps of Engineers along with the Authority hosted their first open house tonight. The first segment starts in Georgetown and extends roughly 4-miles upstream.
Hundreds attended the event to get a glimpse at what the project looks like and find how they might be affected.
You can see from these photos the diversion would feature a meandering low-flow channel inside two excavated berms.
Brett Coleman – Project Manager, US Army Corps: “Course there's concern of how it impacts my land, and of course the local drainage and how that we've adequately addressed that to make sure we don't make things any worse than what they have.”
The final design of the reach one channel and outlet structure is expected to be completed by April 2013.
