Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - For the first time ever two Moorhead Police Officers receive the Medal of Valor. The award is given to a person who risked his or her life while on duty.

Officers Joshua Schroeder and Trent Bachman responded to an incident earlier this month where the suspect turned and started attacking them with a shovel. No one was injured. Both officers say this is a part of the job and they are honored to receive the award.

Joshua Schroeder – Moorhead Police Officer: "It's humbling, there's a lot of officers that have done things in their career that....You know we do this stuff all the time. It's humbling."”

The officers say they are thankful for their training. It's what they rely on in this type of situation.
