Part of I-29 was shut down for more than an hour and a half because of a semi and grass fire. It happened on the northbound lane, mile marker 93 near Grandin around 10 this morning. Officials say the fire was started because of the air brakes on the trailer. The trailer was filled with plastic pellets. Fire crews arrived on scene and began putting the fire out with a foam mixture.
Jerry Gerszewski – Grandin Fire Chief: "Puts a seal on top of the fire to try to suppress the flames otherwise water just runs right off. Foam puts a coating on top of it to hold the flames down."
Crews say the cleanup should be done by tomorrow. No one was injured in the fire.
