Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Catholics gave a fond farewell to Bishop Samuel Aquila, as he presided over his last Mass in Fargo.

He's headed to Colorado - to be the archbishop of the archdiocese of Denver.

Today, Aquila's Farewell mass was at Saint Mary's Cathedral. He has been a Bishop here in Fargo for about a decade.

Aquila says he's excited for his move, but admits he'll miss the beauty of Fargo, it's people, and church members.

Arch Bishop Samuel Aquila says, "I recognize it as being Gods call to me to go to the Archdiocese of Denver, that it is the Fathers will, and just as when I came from Denver to here 11 years ago, you leave everything you know, you leave behind everything, and you truly learn obedience to God and to the Church."

Aquila starts in Denver on July 18th.
