Mott, ND (WDAY TV) -- It's an incredible honor for a late, World War II Veteran from North Dakota.
Anthony Friedt, from Mott, is awarded the Bronze Star by Brigadier General Al Dorhmann and Senator John Hoeven.
He served in World War II and after many heroic acts, he was honorably discharged and began his family that has now grown to over one hundred members.
All of these Friedt's were able to watch today as Lillian, Anthony's widow, accepted the award on his behalf.
Lillian Friedt, Anthony's widow, says, "It's just a great honor to know that he received them, you know I wish he would have got them when he was in the service or whatever but that we get them now you know."
Gen. Al Dohrmann says, "Just what a neat event to recognize. A true American hero from the greatest generation.. 66 years late but we recognized him non the less so just an outstanding event."
