(WDAY TV) -- The NHL draft is just getting underway and for young hockey players across the country, childhood dreams are becoming reality. Former Force Defenseman Brian Cooper is hoping to realize his own dream.

Cooper, who starred for the Force the past 3 years, is projected to be chosen anywhere from the 3rd to 7th round.

The Alaska native will play college hockey under Dean Blais at Nebraska-Omaha.

And NHL scouts have told him, that's where he'll need to polish up his skills.

Cooper says, "just kind of simplify my game, making sure I'm not trying to do to much. Be aware that we have teammates to do their part, I don't need to be doing theirs. I just need to be playing the way I am playing. Get bigger, faster, stronger and hopefully it all works out. You can go anywhere from the third to seventh round. If I go in the third round great, if I go in the seventh round it's still just as awesome."

The Minnesota Wild hold the 7th pick, we'll tell you who they chose tonight at ten
