(WDAY TV) -- North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger has approved petition language for a ballot initiative that aims to ban smoking in all indoor workplaces, including bars.

The measure would amend law North Dakota law "to prohibit smoking, including the use of electronic smoking devices, in public places and most places of employment in this state, including certain outdoor areas."

Smoke-Free North Dakota needs to turn in petitions with at least 13,452 signatures from North Dakota voters by midnight Aug. 8 to have a chance at getting it on the ballot.
