Hawley, MN (WDAY TV) - A Hawley man is accused of assaulting a woman in a ditch, and trying to force her into a sexual act.
Authorities say 28-year old James Hanson was driving with a woman when he demanded sex. When she playfully slapped him he took out a pocket knife to scare her.
The sheriff says the woman eventually ran, but Hanson stopped her, threw her into the ditch, and assaulted her. Hanson's bail has been set at $50,000. Criminal sexual conduct is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Hanson was convicted of assault back in 2002 and 2005.
