The number of motorcycle deaths are up in Minnesota. According to the Department of Public Safety there have already been 17 riders killed. This time last year there were only ten. Local law enforcement say this may be because of the early spring, which leads to more riders being on the road. Departments across the State are looking at ways to combat this issue.
LT. Troy Jacobson – Moorhead Police: “Try to get the word out there, have different campaigns, such as the look twice, you know motorcycles are obviously smaller, they are on the road where they have just as much right to the roadway, so just kind of that reminder to all motorist out there to think about motorcycles, to look twice for vehicles.”
The Look Twice campaign features commercial public service announcements and billboards through the state.
