Neighbors of Jason Viestenz tell us tonight they are broken up over news of his death. They all recall a young man who was proud to be a father, and who demonstrated it every night.
Jason was a father who loved spending time with his son - camping, fishing, and especially playing catch.
Jackie McFarland – Jason’s Neighbor: “He was dedicated, he never missed a night of them two playing catch in the street - never.”
Brain McFarland – Jason’s Neighbor: “His focus was his boy.”
This is a tight neighborhood in South Fargo. Ask Brian and Jackie McFarland.
Brain McFarland – Jason’s Neighbor: “I tell you I 'm really honored to have known and called Jason a friend.”
They lived next door to Jason and Eli. Eli is a popular polite boy who was as devoted to his father as his father was to him.
Brian McFarland: "A couple of Saturday’s ago, we had a fire up here, and we were doing marshmallows and that type of thing, just a great neighbor."
Neighbors tell us the reason Jason was driving his motorcycle with his son that day is the fuel pump had gone out on his car. Meanwhile, neighbors and friends have set up a special fund for the family. Donations are being accepted at United Savings Credit Union.
