Some special runners on Highway Ten headed east. Clay County Deputies and Moorhead Police Officers taking part in the annual torch run for Special Olympics. The program, which started back in 1981, raises millions of dollars worldwide for Special Olympic athletes. The local deputies and officers carried the torch today to the Clay-Becker County line, near Hawley. The Flame of Hope eventually will make its way to the Opening Ceremonies of local, state, national, and World Games.
Nicole Reno – Moorhead Police Officer: “We encourage everybody to participate so if someone wants to run mile or a half mile we have everything from a mile to four miles.
Becker County law enforcement accepted the torch as it passed the county line, as it continues the journey across the state.
