Off-duty New Jersey officer arrested after Pennsylvania standoff

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a New Jersey police officer accused of opening fire with a high-powered rifle after a standoff at his estranged wife's Philadelphia-area home had called police himself to report a dispute.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a New Jersey police officer accused of opening fire with a high-powered rifle after a standoff at his estranged wife's Philadelphia-area home had called police himself to report a dispute.

Police say Clifton Township officer Richard Klementovich faces 14 counts of attempted homicide after the 10-hour standoff in Doylestown on Sunday.

Police say Klementovich initially called police himself. But acting chief Dean Logan says the responding officer found an envelope in the driveway addressed to police that said Klementovich was a police officer and had 2,000 rounds of ammunition in the home.

Authorities say officers were soon under fire, and one suffered minor injuries. Officials say the 42-year-old Klementovich eventually surrendered.

Court records say he has been unable to post bail, and no attorney is listed for him.
