Last stretch of ND scenic drive closed for summer

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Motorists traveling a scenic drive in North Dakota's Badlands will need to finish the route by walking or biking.

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Motorists traveling a scenic drive in North Dakota's Badlands will need to finish the route by walking or biking.

Authorities say the road in the north unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park is shut down after the first six miles because of slumping in the asphalt.

The last eight miles of the road is expected to be closed through the summer, but will be accessible to walkers and bikers.

Park officials tell the Dickinson Press (http://bit.ly/LnBsw6) the slumping is due to the rough terrain and last summer's wet weather.
