Person found dead in Otter Tail River

Otter Tail County (WDAY TV) -- Authorities are investigating what happened to a person found dead in the Otter Tail River.

The Otter Tail Sheriff's Office responded to a call after someone found the body. It happened around 7-30 last night, right by the Orwell Lake. That's just southwest of Fergus Falls.

Deputies say they pulled the body from the water shortly after that call.

They says the person is a man, but are not releasing an age or description right now. And continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Brian Schlueter, Otter Tail County Sheriff, says, "at this point we do have a missing person case, obviously that's of interest to us, and but at this point we are just not willing to say if that is related until we have more information from an autopsy."

The person's identity will be released after an autopsy, deputies estimate that should be finished in the next few days.
