I-29 will be closed tonight

(WDAY TV) -- If you have plans of heading north out of town this weekend, you might be taking a short detour. Interstate 29 will be closed tonight.

Contractors and North Dakota DOT workers will be working on the 7th Avenue Bridge project tonight and into the morning and will need Interstate 29 shutdown in that area.

Crews will be setting new beams and installing a safety canopy for the bridge.

Both north and southbound lanes will be shutdown at ten tonight until Saturday morning.

Kevin Gorder, North Dakota DOT, says, "these are the unique ones we did it on 42nd and 7th we don't have ramps to go up and over and we are stuck when we hang beams it is not our preferred option but it is our only option here."

I-29 will be closed at ten tonight, and will re-open sometime Saturday morning. Tonight, Northbound traffic will exit at main. Southbound will exit at 12th avenue north.
