WEST FARGO – Police here arrested two men on suspicion of burglary early today after a homeowner found strangers in her garage and scared them off.
Officers were called to a burglary in progress at about 4 a.m. in the 600 block of Fourth Avenue East. The victim said she heard people in her garage, and when she saw them, she yelled at them to get out, according to a news release from Detective Derek Cruff.
Responding officers saw two suspects run toward Howard Johnson hotel at 525 Main Ave. E. They were detained and found to have items later determined to be stolen from the area, the release said.
Sean Michael Stringer, 18, and Brady Allen Gillespie, 21, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft from a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property. Both were taken to the Cass County Jail.
The men allegedly admitted to taking items only from unlocked vehicles and garage doors, the release said. The West Fargo Police Department reminded residents to lock their doors to deter crime.
