Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The F-M Coalition for Homeless Persons is trying change the stereotype of a homeless person.

It's hosting the 4th Homelessness 101 Training in Fargo. Community leaders, volunteers, and faith leaders are learning more about the way homelessness is changing.

Speakers say building relationships with homeless persons can create a strong connection, and help break the cycle. They say breaking that cycle requires community effort, and understanding.

Laurie Baker - FM Coalition for Homeless Persons: "Rather than having people meet a whole bunch of rules before they have housing as if that were a gift, we were giving them or something, instead, let's have people be housed."

Baker providing housing gives people a better chance of solving other issues.
