Breckenridge, MN (WDAY TV) -- A unique veterans memorial will soon be in place in Breckenridge.

This Cobra attack helicopter will be taking to the sky, on a poll on 5th street, in just a couple of weeks.

The aircraft saw action in Vietnam, and some of those who flew it plan to attend the opening of the park in the fall.

It's been a community effort to get it restored.

Cliff Barth- Breckenridge Mayor: "It's $2,500 to get this decommissioned. RDO equipment right here in town brought us the helicopter from the state of Washington free of charge, absolutely no charge, which is just kudos to them."

Other companies in town have donated parts to re-build the nose and re-attach the rotors.
