Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Today's vote has not come without some glitches. Re-districting in the metro has led to confusion. A lot of the problem have been along the Fargo/West Fargo line in polling places, like at the Meadowridge Bible Chapel and over at West Acres.
This polling place off the Food Court of the mall is for those living in legislative district 27-1
Ron Leon – Voter: "It used to be down by Penny's"
Not only is the polling place in a new spot at the mall but many of the people that are used to voting here are in a new district.
Ron Leon: “So they were handing out maps so people could find there new location.”
Paul Thomas – Election Judge: "I would say about 50% of the people who are coming in today are in the wrong area to vote today."
This is the one location we were at that was slow.
Paula Thomas: "I think turnout is a lot slower than I expected at this location, but I’m hoping the early voters and absentee voters are where everybody went."
Eventually Leon found his way to Meadowridge Bible chapel and cast his ballot. The new district was causing some problems there too.
Bret Stiles – Election Judge: "Even finding people to help out because they move around you know they used to volunteer in District 13, now it's District 16 for part of it anyways, so yeah there's a lot of confusion."
Add to that half of this precinct is in Fargo and Half in West Fargo. Those voting at the Loedon Kindergarten center in West Fargo are also dealing with boundary changes
Sharon McLean – Election Judge: “There has been some confusion this year there's been some frustration some take it very well and some don't."
Add to this that the usual polling place at the West Fargo Veterans Arena had to be moved to the center because of construction of a new parking lot. Some people in this area have even been moved to District 45 which means they have to drive all the way to the Fargo dome to vote.
